Homeowner's Insurance

Not only is homeowners insurance required by mortgage lenders, it is equally important for you to protect what is probably the biggest investment you will make. Make sure you've got the coverage you need to protect your home & family.

Homeowners insurance can consist of six the following types of coverage for protecting you, your home and your personal belongings.

  1. The home itself. Covers your main residence and any attached structures.

  2. Other structures on your property. Covers any structures on your property not attached to your main house.

  3. Personal effects. Covers damage caused to your personal effects and also to property of others.

  4. Expense reimbursement. Repays any expenses if your home becomes uninhabitable due to a loss covered by your policy.

  5. Personal liability. Protects you from claims of lawsuits by anyone who suffers bodily injury or property damage from negligence on your property.

  6. Medical payments. Provides medical payment coverage for someone injured on or by your property.

Choosing The Right Amount Of Coverage

What types of coverage and the amount of coverage you get depend on a number of factors, including the value of your property, what you're able to afford and what different lenders may require, among other things.

Premiums, too, vary and are based on the level of coverage, individual company rates (which may vary significantly), the value of your home and its contents, its location, and the amount of your deductible.
